About Us

Thanks to you, The Hamilton Dialogues is growing at an incredible pace! We currently have three active projects on the go and there is much more excitement in the wings.

Our first venture, Cinema Politica (CP) at the Staircase Theatre, is the local branch of cinemapolitica.org. CP is an incredible not-for-profit organization with a network of partners screening independent documentaries everywhere in the world. For this current series of documentaries, we were lucky enough to be incubated by the Staircase Café Theatre (www.staircase.org). They are letting us use their 67-seat theatre to show our documentaries on the last Wednesday of every month (well, with a little break from July to September so we can all enjoy the summer).

In September of 2015, we will begin to showcase monthly documentaries at Mohawk College through a partnership with Social Inc/Mohawk College. Social Inc. is an inclusive space inside the Mohawk Campus where students and staff can support each other in their right for an oppression free environment. They organize events, social gatherings and activities to facilitate the discussion of hot topics like homophobia, transphobia, racism, ageism, poervty and other social justice issues of the same caliber.

Every Tuesday at 7 PM you will find us at Perkins Centre (Main and Kenilworth) with a great film and an even greater post-screening conversation. The movies are coming to Hamilton through our partnership with the Goethe-Institut, HOT DOCS, TIFF, NFB and many independent producers, directors and distributors from all around the world.

We are passionate, everyday people interested in culture, politics and community building; we believe in the power of conversation to launch amazing projects and initiate change.
